BC 3 Star Sea Kayak Training and Assessment
The B.C. 3 Star Sea Kayak award is the benchmark qualification for an intermediate sea kayaker. The award requires you to be able to tackle moderate tidal conditions as part of a led group, encompassing group awareness skills and the ability to assist in the smooth running of a trip. Areas covered in the training and assessment will include; managing and controlling your sea kayak in up to force 3 winds (9-13 mph) and 2-3ft swell, surf up to 3ft, assisted rescues and rolling, lastly self rescues on flat water.
The prerequisites required to attend a 3 Star training and assessment are; 2 Star skills and evidence of a minimum of three different journeys of 8nm/16km completed prior to booking onto the course.
Courses and prices are as follows:
1 Day (3 star Assessment): £90
2 Days: £180
3 Days: £260
4 Days: £320
5 Days: £380
These can all be run solely as training courses or with the relevant experience as a continuous training and assessment package.
An additional Canoe Wales administration fee is also required for assessments.
